On arrival at Tefé Airport you will be meet and transferred by boat to your lodge.

After settling in, one naturalist guide will accompany you to some activities. The outings in the afternoon start at 15:30 when the weather is not so hot. At 15:30 you will be ready to go on a walk (dry season) of one of the trails. You will be taken with your whole group to do an Interpretative Trail. The naturalist and the local guide, joining scientific and traditional knowledge will help you to interpret the flooded forest environment. If it’s the “flood season” you will take a trip by large canoe along channels and lakes into the forest. During the flood season (May-July) all trails will be made in a small paddle canoe (your guide will paddle you through the trail). Dinner will be served at around 19:30.

    Day 2 UAKARI FLOATING LODGE (B – L – D)

Breakfast will be served early in the morning (6:30 am) and you will start your day with a series of activities. Another trail will be made, on foot or by canoe, in the new scenery chosen to observe nature. In the flooded season (May- Aug) the jungle trip will be made by canoe. At 15:30 you are invited by the researchers that are working in the ecotourism area to participate in their field works. After dinner, you will be ready to do a night tour (on foot or by small canoe) with a high chance of seeing different kinds of nocturnal fauna, such as tarantula spiders, opossum, two-toed sloth and brown throat three toted sloth, amazon bamboo rats, bats, etc.

    Day 3 UAKARI FLOATING LODGE (B – L – D)

Today you will be able to visit a local village to see how these people used to live. A person from the community will meet your group and show you around.

If you don’t wish to visit the local community there is a possibility to do another trip together with your local guide. The other option is to take a motorized canoe to Mamirauá Lake, a beautiful lake inside the preservation area of the Reserve. At the lake you will have a chance to see pink river dolphins, hoatzins and perhaps the pirarucu fish. You will stay there until sunset and on your way back you will spot black caimans, bats, and night birds.

Dinner will be served at the lodge, and you will be able to join a talk about the ecosystem and the Mamiraua Institute for Sustainable Development.

Day 4 UAKARI FLOATING LODGE – TEFE (B)

Breakfast at the lodge. Depart the lodge at 8:30am. Even considering it’s an early morning, if you wish you can still join a last morning activity – a trip by canoe at 6:30am. • More information on Brazil:

Brazil – with the country’s name, one associates endless Amazon jungle, wonderful beaches, Rio de Janeiro, carnival and samba. This is all correct but in reality: Brazil is much more than a country of the superlatives!

Brazil, a country of immense proportions and contrasts, is a mysterious attraction for many people – The country alone is almost the size of Europe and covers half of the South American continent. The climate changes from the permanent warm, tropic north over all sub tropic variants to the moderate south. Since the 16th century – when the Portuguese began to settle in the country – Brazil has always had a magic attraction to foreigners. First there was the gold and then rubber and coffee, and today it is above all the rhythm and the exotic that attracts tourists. The Brazilians show a lot of happiness, kindness and spontaneity. The largest country in South America is a mirror of fascinating pictures.

More information about The Uakari Floating Lodge:

This lodge offers a unique chance to experience Mamirauá, which at 1,124,000 hectares is the largest reserve of flooded rainforest in the world. Mamirauá Sustainable Development Reserve, located on the north bank of the Rio Solimões (Amazon), can only be reached by a two hour transfer by speedboat from the river port of Tefé, 525 kilometres west of Manaus. The floating lodge with ten rooms was originally constructed to enable scientists and visitors to explore the reserve, while ensuring minimal impact on the environment. Its name derives from the various types of uakari monkeys that inhabit this part of the rainforest.

The activities in the lodge will involve local guides, who enrich the visitor experience with their traditional knowledge as well as a naturalist guide (English speaking) who provides scientific knowledge of the Amazon nature. The lodge does not have a day by day program because the tours can change due to the climatic conditions and preference of the visitors. Among the tours offered are: Jungle trails, Canoe trails (from May to July), Community visiting, Sunset at Mamirauá Lake, Meeting the Researchers. Other activities include a presentation of Mamirauá Institute and Traditional Fishing, where the visitor can fish for piranhas and other fish, always with a local guide.
