The Archaeological and Anthropological Museum offers a panoramic view of the most representative cultures that lived in ancient Peru. Later on we will visit the Larco Museum; an 18th century mansion built on top of a pre-Colombian pyramid circa the 7th century. Plenty of treasures are exhibited at the world’s most prestigious museums and are there for us to see. Don’t miss the warehouse and the exclusive collection of pre-Colombian erotic ceramics.

Transfer to the airport and departure to Chiclayo. Arrival and welcome reception. Stay at Chiclayo.

    Day 3 CHICLAYO (B – L)

The tour starts with a visit to Huaca Rajada, archaeological site in which the Lord of Sipan’s remains were found. Then it’s off to the Pyramids Valley in Tucume, an impressive urban centre and the most important of its time, located at only 33 km from Chiclayo. The legend of the Naylamp god and the Cetemi queen, who came from the sea, still lives strong among the settlers. We´ll have lunch at one of the restaurants in the area for a chance to try the best traditional local cuisine: a varied and spiced arrangement of flavours for our palate. To end the day, a visit to the Royal Tombs of Sipan Museum, known also as the 21st Century Museum. It was built as an exact representation of the original tomb and it is home to amazing gold, silver and precious stones treasures. An incredible experience you will never forget.

    Day 4 CHICLAYO – TRUJILLO (B)

Departure on private transportation to Trujillo. It is a three hour ride enjoying the beauty of the valleys. When we reach Casa Grande sugar hacienda we’ll take a detour towards the Brujo Archaeological Complex and Museum, named after the polychrome friezes on its walls. In the surrounding areas a pre-Inca cemetery is discovered. Then we will visit the Lady of Cao Complex in which we could see this well preserved mummy, discovered a few years ago, and possible ruler of the Moche culture. Transfer to the hotel and free rest of the afternoon to explore the city. Stay in Trujillo.

    Day 5 TRUJILLO – LIMA (B – L)

We shall start the day visiting the Temple of the Moon, at only 5 km from town. This Huaca holds beautiful treasures, with wonderful friezes and urban architecture. In the afternoon, and after visiting the Temple of the Dragon, we will arrive at the largest mud city in South America: Chan Chan, capital of the Chimu Empire. The tour continues with a visit to the Huanchaco fishermen’s cove, famous for its totora reed boats called Totora Horses. Lunch time at one of the best seafood restaurants in the area.

More information on the visited destinations:

Lima was founded in 1535 by the Spanish conqueror Francisco Pizarro as “The city of the kings” and became the capital and most important city of the Spanish Viceroyalty. Today it is still Peru’s most important city as it is home to about 9 million people, almost 30% of the national population. The historical city centre is splendid with colonial style architecture, ample squares such as the Plaza de Armas (or Plaza Mayor) and grand churches which yielded it the declaration as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. In its modern quarters such as Miraflores and San Isidro you can find present day architecture, rich entertainment possibilities and a great number of first class hotels and restaurants. Peruvian cuisine is excellent and is becoming world famous, which the Peruvians are extremely proud of.

Chiclayo was founded in 1560 as a rural Indian village by a Spanish priest and remained until the 19th century as a small town. The region of Peru where Chiclayo is located, Lambayeque, gave rise to the great Mochica culture from 0-600 AD.

Many of the ancient civilizations that lived in Peru used to view the control of this region as a strategic advantage.

The city is one of the most interesting cities to visit in the northern part of Peru! Due to the fact of being close to the coastal cities and also being home for intriguing ruins, the traveler that chooses to explore this region will for sure be surprised with a unique experience.

Trujillo is a city in the northwestern coast of Peru. The city is one of the most populous in the country and is located on the banks of the Moche River. The place where the city is located is an interesting point for those passionate about archaeology. The city was once a site of the great pre-historic Moche and Chimu cultures, before the Incas conquered them as part of the expansion of the Inca Empire.
