Amazon Yacuma Lodge

  • Day 1 TENA – YACUNA LODGE (D)

Upon arrival in Tena, our guide-companion will wait for you in Tena and then will transfer you to the indigenous village of Santa Rosa (or San Pedro). From here by canoe, we will travel downstream along the Napo River, arriving at Yacuma Lodge in the late afternoon. You will have time to settle in the lodge’s bungalows (accommodation in twin or double bedded rooms). After dinner, we take a silent navigation on the Napo River to observe the beauty of the jungle by night.

    Day 2 YACUNA LODGE (B – L – D)

After breakfast, we will begin a 3-hour trek through the rainforest. Along the way, an indigenous guide will show us the many species of plants and describe their medicinal purposes to us. With a little luck, we will see monkeys and birds such as oropendolas and parrots. After lunch, we will visit the Quechua indigenous community, where you will have the opportunity to learn about local customs and the way of life of the native people of the jungle. Later in the afternoon, you may like to enjoy a refreshing swim in the river or try your hand at fishing.

    Day 3 YACUNA LODGE (B – L – D)

In the morning, we will travel further along the Napo River towards the mouth of Huambuno River. We navigate this river until we arrive at the small lagoon where we make a short trek to observe caymans and hoatzins. Our crew will serve a boxed lunch on the way. Later in the afternoon, you will have the rare opportunity to try panning for gold on the shores of Napo River. We will return to the lodge late in the afternoon and after dinner, we invite you to have a drink at our social evening.

    Day 4 YACUNA LODGE – TENA (B)

After breakfast, we will begin our return navigation along the Napo River to Santa Rosa (or San Pedro) village. From here, transport back to Tena and from Tena you can take a transport (or fly) to Quito.
